Shot Peening

Shot peening is a more complex process than shot blasting, enabling higher-quality, more precise cleaning. Shot peening is used across various industries and products.

  • Castings
  • Springs
  • Heat Treating Parts
  • Forgings
  • Machined Parts

Applications

The versatility of peening blasting enables a wide range of applications across sectors. Some of the surface preparation methods include:

  • Deburring – Burrs and other imperfections are removed using concentrated abrasive media, resulting in a smoother, more polished surface.
  • Rust removal – The high velocity of precise peening blasting media generates enough force to remove oxidation from the material’s surface.
  • Scaling – Shot blasting improves the durability of the workpiece by removing mill scale and oxidized, flaky material from the surface. Shot media can penetrate hard-to-reach areas and remove mill scale.
